A big problem that farmers continue to experience is the ability to provide a sufficient amount of product to meet the needs of many. At the same time, the farmer needs to be able to adapt in order to tackle other problems such as protecting the environment and a scarce amount of water. As the need for protecting the environment grows, it is also encouraging to see that many new possibilities exist that will help grow the current systems and crops. This in itself will protect the environment and increase the amount of food.
By implementing precision farming, the farmer is able to incorporate both farm engineering and technology in order to unlock other avenues of management and organization. A few of these involve the use of GPS, satellite, and even drones that are able to ensure the methods used in farming are accurate.
Having these methods in precision farming allows the correct resources to be utilized at the right amount and time. A good example of this is when technology is used in order to distinguish the best location for fertilizer. So instead of applying fertilizer over an entire crop field, the crops are able to obtain more that is placed exactly where it is needed by using a lower rate to be applied. This will ultimately save money, decrease environmental impact, and increase the number of crops. Environmentally, the decreased amount of solid and liquid use will also decrease the high emissions of nitrous oxide.
Likewise, because the amount of fossil fuels still being a huge contributor with farm machinery and fertilizers and cattle being another contributing factor to the greenhouse effect, utilizing precise techniques is able to present the farmer or property owner with the ability to handle the amount of emissions along with other methods that are seen as traditional as the cover crops and crop rotation.
Besides the methods above, there are many other precise farming methods that can decrease the change in climate, such as:
· Decreasing the use of fossil fuel so less amount of emissions is created
· Increasing effective use of nitrogen fertilizer so that less nitrous oxide can escape
· Make the best use of the land by knowing where the deficit lies and alternating the application of seed.
· Managing the traffic farming so agricultural repair can occur
· Waste is decreased
· Efficiency is improved so the amount of gas emissions is decreased
· Able to handle the change in climate when it occurs, whether it is by enhancing the soil or using a minimum amount of water
When it comes down to precise farming, the overall efficiency of cost plays a major role. Many farmers are able to save a lot of money through minimal use of resources such as fertilizer or pesticide, but still being able to increase a financial gain as a yield grows.
Although productivity can rise and provide a nice increase financially, incorporating a precise farming method involves a serious amount of financing. There are many ways and financiers that can be taken advantage of by obtaining grants or other loans that may be available for every farmer. But, if the amount of gas is decreased within the agriculture field, then there will also be an increase in the amount of financial help that becomes available.
With so much change already taking place, agriculture is now able to adjust to the difficulties of the environment, which have continued to plague farmlands. Having the right technology in place will allow for that to continue.
